At Georgia Tech, 32.7% of your classes will have fewer than 20 students.
Class size data reflects all undergraduate sections including labs, seminars, and lectures. Large research universities often have smaller upper-division and graduate-level sections that improve the overall distribution. First and second-year students typically experience larger classes than these averages suggest.

City & Culture
Beyond the data — what it's actually like to spend four years in Atlanta.
Georgia Tech is unusual among top engineering schools in that its campus sits inside a major city — Midtown Atlanta is directly across the street, and the BeltLine trail, Piedmont Park, and the Fox Theatre are all within a short walk or streetcar ride. That means internships, concerts, and professional sports are part of ordinary weeks rather than special trips. It suits students who want a big-city life alongside a demanding technical program; the campus itself is compact and green enough that it still feels like its own place.

Traditions
The Ramblin' Wreck
A restored 1930 Ford Model A sport coupe leads the football team onto the field before every home game. It has its own student-run team of caretakers, and driving it is one of the more coveted roles on campus.
George P. Burdell
A fictitious student invented as a prank in 1927 who has been 'enrolled' ever since — signed up for classes, listed on rosters, and even credited with a degree. Students still find creative ways to keep his record active.
The Mini 500
During homecoming week, teams race tricycles around a course in front of the Student Center, complete with pit stops and mandatory tire changes. It has run since 1969 and draws big crowds for something so deliberately ridiculous.

Who Thrives Here
Tech is built for students who arrive committed to engineering or computing, with Atlanta's employers 20 minutes away and a wry engineer's culture to match — its most famous alumnus is a student invented as a prank in 1927 and still turning up on class rosters. Go in clear-eyed about the pace: 66% finish in four years, 94% within six, and the school meets just 61% of demonstrated financial need.
